How can Build a Simple Corner Computer Desk

Most of standard desks have become to decidedly outdated and inconvenient. Many barely have enough room for anything other than to the home computer. Corner desks may be solve this problem by providing twice the surface space while taking to advantage of room space that is otherwise not utilized. Make our own basic corner computer desk to fulfill both our computer and non-computer needs with space to spare.

Things for Need

  • Furniture-grade plywood
  • Sawhorses
  • Hand power saw
  • Wood glue
  • Wood biscuits
  • Screws
  • Screwdriver
  • Disc sander
  • Varnish
1.      Cut of a single rectangle of plywood measuring with 5 feet by 3 feet. Use of the sawhorses and hand power saw to cut this piece in half width-wise by using an angled line, this line will be stretch from two feet from the end of the left side up to three feet in from the same end of the right side, creating a 45 degree angle cut. When we flip one of these pieces upside-down and press the angled edges to the pieces together, they will form a 90 degree angle for fit into the corner of a room.

2.      Cut to six rectangles measuring 3 1/2 feet by 1 1/2 foot for the legs of the desk.

3.      Make to the short wood strips for the desk's lip.

4.      Assemble the desktop pieces atop of the sawhorses by using wood glue and wood biscuits. Cut six to eight slots in every edge of the angled sides to the desktop pieces, spacing them out evenly and identically so that they can line up when placed with together. Apply to glue generously for the edges and into the slots. Insert biscuits into the slots on one the side before lining to the edges up with on the other side, sliding the biscuits into place like tabs into slots. Press to the edges firmly together and let the glue dry.

5.      Line up to the lip pieces to the edge of the desk piece, lining up for the four strips with in the desk edges of the same length and positioning to the lips so that they hang down off the edges of the desk. Attach with the inch long screws, driving the screws in from the outside the lip. Use one screw for each six inches.

6.      Lay of the desktop upside-down on the floor to attach on the legs.

7.      Attach to the legs by wood glue. Position them to the underside of the desk, inside to the lip. Place one leg on each side of the desk's corner, close to the point. Place two legs on each end to the desk, positioning them to the ends of the long sides on both of the outside and inside of the legs to the "L" shape.

8.      Turn to the desk right side up to reinforce of the glued legs with screws. Drive to the screws down through to the desktop into the legs. Use at least three screws for every leg.

9.      Sand to the desk with the disc sander.

10.    Apply to varnish, if desired, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
